# Introduction

Thank you for your purchase of an AethLabs microAethalometer™ MA450 Black Carbon monitor. This guide provides a short introduction to setting up and using your MA450. Refer to the [MA450 Operating Manual](https://github.com/AethLabs/aethlabs-manuals/tree/main/gitbook/microaethalometer-tm-ma450/manual/README.md) for detailed information, including the [Installation chapter](https://github.com/AethLabs/aethlabs-manuals/tree/main/gitbook/microaethalometer-tm-ma450/manual/installation.md) and [On-Device Operation chapter](https://github.com/AethLabs/aethlabs-manuals/tree/main/gitbook/microaethalometer-tm-ma450/manual/on-device-operation.md).

Carefully unpack the instrument and accessories. Check that all items are present and undamaged. Retain original packaging for safe storage and shipping.

The model and serial number of the microAethalometer™ MA450 is located on the inside of the enclosure door. Record the serial number in the space provided below. Refer to these numbers whenever you contact AethLabs for service.
