# Introduction

Thank you for your purchase of an AethLabs microAethalometer MA600 Black Carbon monitor. This guide provides a short introduction to setting up and using your MA600. Refer to the [MA600 Operating Manual](/microaethalometer-tm-ma600/manual.md) for detailed information, including the [Installation chapter](/microaethalometer-tm-ma600/manual/installation.md).

The MA600 is a 3U rack-mountable instrument for continuous stationary monitoring in laboratory, regulatory, and industrial environments. It features five-wavelength measurement with DualSpot® loading compensation, RS-232 and USB serial communication, and an optional built-in Nafion sample dryer.

Carefully unpack the instrument and accessories. Check that all items are present and undamaged. Retain original packaging for safe storage and shipping.
