# Installation

### Pick installation location

Install the MA600 in a climate-controlled environment with adequate ventilation on the sides and rear. The inlet port, outlet port, and all connections must be protected from water and other contaminants.

### Mount the instrument in the rack

Mount the MA600 in a standard 19-inch equipment rack using the rack-mounting ears and hardware. The instrument occupies 3U of vertical rack space. Ensure the rack provides support and airflow for continuous operation.

### Connect the sampling line

Connect the included sampling hose to the inlet port and route an appropriate inlet sampling train to protect against water intrusion, insects, and in-line condensation. Use a dedicated sampling line for the MA600.

### Route hose(s)

Carefully route all inlet and outlet hoses to prevent water from entering the ports.

### Connect power

Connect the supplied 12V DC power adapter to the rear-panel **12V DC IN** M8 sealed circular connector. If the optional built-in Nafion dryer is installed, also connect the second 12V supply to the **external purge pump**. {% hint style="warning" %}
Be sure that the aerosol inlet to the microAethalometer is at atmospheric pressure and that there is no differential pressure between the aerosol inlet and the operating environment. If sampling from a plenum or chamber, it must be at the same pressure as the instrument. If other instrumentation is measuring in parallel, always use a dedicated sampling line for the microAethalometer.
